final assignment

Monogram (Logo)

in this assignment, we need to create our own monogram by using words in our name and transfer our monogram into 5 item.

i USE 'v' and 'j' to create my monogram.

'V' stand for my english name which is 'v'illson.

'j' stand for my chinese name which is 'j'ie shien.

in this assignment, i finally can explore something without any rules. our lecturer just told us that we need to transfer our monogram into 5 item, so it mean it can be something except paper.

for this module, i did most of the artwork on paper.

so now, lets play and explore!!

THe monogram with the word 'big' and 'medium' is my final monogram that i use to create my 5 item.

two small 'J' in a big 'v'

it mean, in villson's mind, there are two Jie shien. which mean i atleast two different thinking way or angle for everything. but there is a similarity in those thinking, i only think about something new to me. that is what i call 'MY EXPLORATION'.

my 6 item

1. fan (asian fan???)

I went 'daiso' to search the possible item for me to transfer my monogram.

I saw this and i bought it.

it look very easy to transfer.

but, it is not that easy that you think.

the surface is very uneven, i use two big clip to clip the both bottom side of this fan to make it as flat as possible.

but once i clip the both side, the middle side bounce upward... i need to press it when i transfering my monogram onto it.

i use a red rendering marker to render because the complementary colour of green is red. (lesson taught by mr.ernesto from fundamental drawing class).

2. candle (wax)

In print making class, i had carve images on wood, lino and cardboard.

this assignment is my chance to try is it possible for me to carve on a candle(wax)?

some people will say it look very easy to carve on wax. but the truth is, it is really hard to carve a image on candle, especially a small image.

i use the normal carving tools that i use in print making class to carve this candle.

it is very hard because i can't make a major mistake and i need full concerntration and be patience.

the part that been carve will become white colour, the wax break very easily.

if i make a major mistake, everyone can see it clearly.

so is it possible to carve an image on candle(wax) ???

YES! IS POSSIBLE, BUT you need practice, skill and a better carving tools for wax carve purpose.

3. Something place under a hot or cold cup.

this is almost the same like the candle, it look easy but is hard.

But honestly, the candle is still the hardest one.

i choose this as one of my item because i had seen many of this thing from cafe. normally it is with the beer brand logo.

i want to transfer my monogram onto it and i want to know is it easy or hard to cut this thing using a normal cutting blade?

yes, it is quite hard.

the wax will become white once i cut, and this will break once i cut.

i used a very shard cutting blade for this but it still broke easily, especially cutting the details of my monogram.

but, it still possible to transfer my monogram onto it, just need to be very concerntrate and patience while cuting it.

4. t-shirt (cotton & nylon)

i want to know can i create my own t-shirt design by just using a normal spray paint??

i get two black t-shirt from my wardrobe.

the first one is made by cotton.

The second is made by nylon.

i stick my t-shirt on my car porch floor by using masking tape.

i cut my monogram off from paper and spray the back using spray gum.

then i stick on my t shirt and start spraying process.

i did the same process for the both t-shirt but it come out differently.

the monogram on the nylon t-shirt has contrast compare with the cotton base.

it is because the cotton absorb well, it absorb the paint.

the nylon base won't absorb that well, so the paint remain on the surface  of the t-shirt.

it look like a printed t-shirt for the nylon base.

LESS CONTRAST                      MORE CONTRAST

5. DREAM CATCHER

i WENT DAISO WITH MY FRIEND FROM OTHER UNIVERSITY, HE TOLD ME SOMETHING VERY STUPID, HE SAID: VILLSON, YOU CAN COOK WELL, WHY DONT U COOK SOMETHING FOR YOUR LECTURER? MAYBE U CAN GET EXTRA MARK?.... I KNOW HE IS JOKING BUT SOMETHING CRAZY COME INTO MY MIND.

I SAW A EGG FRYING PAN WITH LOVE SHAPE, AND I START THINKING. IS IT POSSIBLE TO CREATE MY MONOGRAM ON AN

EGG?

I BOUGHT TWO FRYING PAN AND ONE ALUMINIUM PAN.

FIRST PAN WAS FAIL, I TRY TO BEND IT BUT IT BROKE. I THREW IT AWAY AND I GIVE UP...

I TRY TO THINK, CAN I TURN THIS PAN INTO SOMETHING ELSE? WITH MY MONOGRAM?? OWHHH IT IS REALLY HARD AND I ALMOST THROW THEM AWAY.

I START ROTATE THE PAN AND SOMETHING COME INTO MY MIND AGAIN. A DREAM CATCHER...

I DRAW MY MONOGRAM ON THE PAN AND COUNT HOW MANY HOLE I NEED TO DRILL FOR THE TRANSFERING PROCESS.

THEN I DRILL THE PAN USING DRILLING MACHINE.

NEXT I SPRAY THE PAN AND THE SCREW INTO BLACK.

I PLACE ALL THE SCREW INTO ALL THE HOLE ON THE PAN.

THEN I USE BRIGHT COLOR SEWING ROPE TO CREATE CONTRAST AND TRANSFER MY MONOGRAM ONTO THE PAN.

I TIE THE SCREW ONE BY ONE AND MY MONOGRAM BECOME A 3D MONOGRAM.

back

after transferring my monogram onto the pan. i start to tie the feather together for the dream catcher.

i use eagle feather because eagle is my favourite animal.

atlast, my dream catcher finally done.

lesson learnt, do not give up. think and try again and again till you make it.

6. jelly & jelly mold

AFTER CREATE ALL THE 5 ITEM, I STILL CAN'T FORGET ABOUT THE EGG MOLD...

I LEFT ONE ALUMINIUM PAN, I JUST CAN'T GIVE UP.

I STOP THINKING AND START DOING IT.

I DRAW MY MONOGRAM ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PAN.

THEN I USE A CHOPSTICK AND A HAMMER TO KNOCK THE PAN FOLLOWING THE MONOGRAM LINE THAT I DRAWN.

IS VERY HARD BECAUSE I NEED TO CONTROL MY PRESSURE VERY WELL. THE ALUMINIUM PAN BREAK VERY EASILY. AND I BROKE FEW HOLE.

WHEN I KNOCKING THE BOTTOM, THE WHOLE SURFACE AND THE PAN SHAPE CHANGED...

I NEED TO KNOCK THE SURFACE OUT FROM THE INSIDE OF THE PAN...

IT IS REALLY HARD...

ATLAST IT IS DONE!! BUT THEN I REALIZE ONE THING !! THIS IS ALUMINIUM PAN..IS NOT A NON- STICK FRYING PAN!!! HOW AM I GOING TO FRIED EGG ON IT...

I ALMOST GO CRAZY...

my mum ask me something... how about jelly??

mummy, i love you so much... you save me.

i try to make jelly using this mold and it really work !!!

it din't look perfect but atleast i created my monogram on a jelly !! i had explored something new !!

i repeat

i like to do things differently is not because i want to be someone special or to compete with someone.

i am learning thats why i should not stop exploring something new.

what i mean something new is not something new in this world, it is something new to me.

no matter the exploration fail or success, i am exploring something new to me. If there is a mistake, there is where i learn my lesson.

i will always and only be my self.
